I am not sure who is misunderstanding who (or if there is any) but, for the avoidance of any doubt, I have rectified my inconsistent use of capital letters in this and my previous 2 posts to make it clear that when I use the phrase ‘Green politics’ I am not referring to Derek Wall’s book but simply to the ideas in his book – also known as ecological politics and/or ecological economics. (Hence the word ‘Green’ is being used as a proper noun).

Anyway, having cleared that up(?), what do you mean by “as long as you keep them in context”? What context is that? Surely Diamond is either a prophet of doom (to whom we should listen) or he is an environmental alarmist of the worst kind (whom we should dismiss)? I don’t see that there is any room in his message for compromise…

This is the first I’ve heard of Green Politics – I’ll have to add it to my list and read it after this semester is over. I enjoyed Guns, Germs & Steel and Collapse – good books, as long as you keep them in context.
