All too classical analysis from this TV guy. 400 BCE is more like the death of democracy, and the birth of Socrates-Plato-Aristotle (see sir Karl Popper). Islam and Christianity, two variants of Judaism, are of no importance. The major philosophical advance of the millennium was not half a dozen new major silly and murderous superstitions. It was instead the outlawing of slavery by the Franks which was the major progress of the millennium (coincident with desert savages making slavery into god). And what of Saul the Jew? What was his major advance? Well, he invented willful book burning.

Venice was the enemy of Constantinople. Taking out the "Christian" component from the Sultan's army, Constantinople would not have fallen.
